Akatsuki - Naruto
Akatsuki was a group of shinobi who existed outside of the traditional system of hidden villages from naruto world. Since its inception, Akatsuki has taken several shapes and been headed by various individuals. Each Akatsuki had many lairs scattered over the world, unreachable due to their remoteness or the different security systems that guarded them. Akatsuki (暁) as "Aka Tsuki" (赤月), translates to "red moon" which can be interpreted as “Dawn” or “Daybreak”.
How Akatsuki formed? What is the purpose of Akatsuki?
Black Zetsu created Akatsuki as part of its goal to resurrect its mother, however it pretended the idea came from Madara Uchiha, whom Black Zetsu duped into believing it was a manifestation of his desire. Yahiko created Akatsuki during the Third Shinobi World War with his boyhood companions Nagato and Konan as a memorial to their mentor sannin Jairaya. All akatsuki members are labeled as criminals, subversives, and rebels, but they all want to make the world a better place in their own way.

Nagato was an Amegakure shinobi and descendant of the Uzumaki clan. Nagato hoped to bring peace to the violent shinobi world by forming Akatsuki with his friends (and fellow war orphans) Yahiko and Konan. However, after Yahiko's death, Nagato took on the alias Pain and, along with Konan, began leading a new Akatsuki — one that would use any means necessary to force the world into peace.

Itachi Uchiha was a Konohagakure Uchiha clan shinobi who served as an Anbu Captain. After murdering his whole clan and sparing only his younger brother, Sasuke, he subsequently became an international criminal. He then joined the Akatsuki international criminal organisation, which brought him into constant battle with Konoha and its ninja, notably Sasuke, who vowed to avenge their clan by killing Itachi. Following his death, Itachi's motivations were shown to be more nuanced than they appeared, and his acts were always in the best interests of his brother and town, causing him to remain a devoted Konohagakure shinobi till the end.

Orochimaru is a legendary Sannin of Konohagakure. Orochimaru craves immortality in order to live all of the lifetimes required to complete his goal of learning all of the world's secrets. Orochimaru defected from Konoha rather than be persecuted for his ambitions after being caught red-handed performing unethical experiments on his fellow citizens for the sake of immortality, and for many years sought the village's destruction in order to exact revenge and demonstrate what he had learned. After multiple seeming deaths in pursuit of his ambitions, Orochimaru realises his strategy is faulty through his former associate, Kabuto Yakushi, and begins monitoring the decisions and actions of his former protégé, Sasuke Uchiha.

Obito Uchiha belonged to the Uchiha clan of Konohagakure. He was said to have died during the Third Shinobi World War, leaving only the Sharingan he left to his teammate, Kakashi Hatake. In fact, Madara saved and trained Obito, but the events of the war disillusioned him with reality, and he inherited Madara's plan to construct an ideal world. Obito resurfaced under the guises of Tobi and Madara Uchiha himself, quietly taking control of the Akatsuki and utilising them to further his plans, eventually going public and launching the Fourth Shinobi World War. However, near the end of the war, Obito had a change of heart and, as penance, offered his life to save the world he hoped to replace.

Kisame Hoshigaki, also known as the Monster of the Hidden Mist, was a shinobi from the Hoshigaki Clan of Kirigakure. He became an S-rank missing-nin after joining the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and was teamed with Itachi Uchiha when the latter joined Akatsuki.

White Zetsu was half of the Akatsuki member Zetsu, with Black Zetsu being the other. He was one of the first victims of Kaguya otsutsuki's Infinite Tsukuyomi, and was finally dragged from the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path by Black Zetsu and infused with Hashirama Senju's DNA by Madara Uchiha.

The physical expression of Kaguya otsutsuki's will is Black Zetsu. It was meant to ensure its creator's resurrection, and it surreptitiously instigated numerous events that impacted the shinobi world, during which it posed as Madara Uchiha's manifested will, leading to it being teamed with White Zetsu to form half of the Akatsuki member known simply as Zetsu.

Konan was an Amegakure kunoichi and a founding member of the original Akatsuki. Following Yahiko's murder, she was partnered with Nagato, who had gained control of Akatsuki and was the only member to address him by his given name. Konan defected from Akatsuki after Nagato's death and became the de facto village head of Amegakure.

Hidan is a Jashin-worshiping S-rank missing-nin who defected from Yugakure and eventually joined the Akatsuki. Despite their mutual hate for each other, he was partnered with Kakuzu there. At the moment of Tobi's entrance, he was also the second newest member of Akatsuki. Kisame Hoshigaki jokingly dubbed Hidan and Kakuzu the Zombie Combo.

Kakuzu was an S-rank missing-nin from Takigakure, a member of Akatsuki, and Hidan's partner. Kisame Hoshigaki jokingly referred to them as the Zombie Combo since they couldn't perish in different ways.

Deidara was an Iwagakure S-rank missing-nin. He was a member of the Explosion Corps during his stay in the area. He was pushed into Akatsuki after defecting from the community and was its youngest member. Deidara was teamed with Sasori until his death, and then with Tobi until his own death.

Sasori, also known as Sasori of the Red Sand, was an S-rank missing-nin from Sunagakure's Puppet Brigade and a member of Akatsuki, where he worked alongside Orochimaru and, subsequently, Deidara.

Juzo Biwa was a Kirigakure jonin who belonged to the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. In the anime, Juzo left his village to join Akatsuki, where he was teamed with Itachi Uchiha.

This shinobi was a missing-nin from an obscure town and an Akatsuki member who worked with Kakuzu.
Despite a maximum of ten members being possible under Nagato's leadership, that number is never reached before Part I; even when Orochimaru was part of the group, they only totalled nine. Only in the game film Formation of the Akatsuki is the roster fully complete.
